'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith continues contest with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a powerful shot from distance, and his teammate immediately hammered in the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an incredible comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 deep into the latter period. In the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result booked a next round game at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in remarkable manner, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right flank after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the simple things and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they know how to control and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be focused throughout of the game. It requires a resilient mindset and focus just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across a couple of years at his former club and has rapidly achieved similar status in his new home. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it seems play is circulated without serious challenge. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that growth for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches encounters against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks a remarkable path for the player from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and driving. Franco is known for his humor; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
